Project Management Association of Nepal (PMAN), has completed Project Management Foundation Training in Kathmandu, Nepal in April 2 - 3, 2011. The two-day training was targeted for project managers, project management practitioners and those who are interested in the field of project management.
The course curricula included history and objectives of IPMA and PMI; introduction of PMBOK®4 and ICB3.0 and their respective 42 process groups and 46 competence elements; and IPMA 4-L-C certifications criteria, process and requirements.
The training is one of the many PMAN will be offering this year and in future as PMAN certification board is being established and first national assessors have already been recommended by IPMA CVMB. With this institutional arrangement within PMAN, many project managers and practitioners are expected to be IPMA 4-L-C certified through nationally conducted assessment and validation. To meet this demand and to promote project management in Nepal Training and education board is currently spearheading to intensify the training activities.
As one of the many takeaways from the training, scheduling and critical path analysis exercise were carried out by dividing twelve trainees in to three smaller groups with taking up any on-going project of their own and then present the outcome by the assigned project manager of each corresponding group. Others included why communication management is important when managing projects in high-context culture while communicating with diverse group of people from low-context culture; and need of its understanding to be effective also for documenting project activities and deliverables. Other key competences that were focused during the training were risk and quality management. Please, download the article from here. See photos.
